German airport in Frankfurt will open a new terminal for low-costers

An additional terminal will be built at Frankfurt Airport, the opening of which is expected in 2020. The new terminal will be targeted at low-cost airlines and will be able to serve up to 6 million passengers a year.

 

The terminal will be erected to the south of the main building of the Frankfurt airport terminal. Under the project, after the terminal for loukosterov built terminal 3, intended for full-service airlines, connected to existing terminals using a monorail.

 

In the past few years, the main customer of the airport is the German air carrier Lufthansa. The airline relocated a significant part of its long-haul fleet to Munich, where it is a co-owner of Terminal 2.

 

In 2017, the base in Frankfurt was opened by Ryanair, with the planned increase in the number of aircraft to 20 sides in long-term cooperation.
